Lance Ball Signs One-Year Tender with Broncos

In March, the Denver Broncos placed tenders on five players, including running back Lance Ball.  On Monday, Ball signed his tender.

The one-year deal will keep Ball in Denver through 2013, paying him $1,323,000 (per Spotrac.com).  Ball figures to compete for the No. 3 RB position on the Broncos depth chart this summer.

Ball (5'9", 215 lbs.) entered the NFL with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2008.  Since then, he spent time on the active rosters and practice squads of the Colts and Titans before coming to Denver.  He has been with the Broncos since 2010.
Noted for his special team's value, Ball has rushed 192 times for 801 yards and two touchdowns in four seasons.  He has accumulated 661 yards from scrimmage and eight special team's tackles over the past two years.

Also on Monday, free agent Broncos veteran safety Jim Leonhard signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.  Leonhard was a rotational safety on Denver's defense in 2012 and handled some return duties before the emergence of the speedy Trindon Holliday.

The Broncos will begin voluntary offseason workouts in one week on Monday, April 15.
